Hampshire Wessex 2008

Here is the latest on the Friendship Force exchange to England. Our exchange will be leaving September 4, 2008 and returning September 21. Our 7 day home-stay will start on Friday, September 5 in southern England. The exchange is being hosted by two chapters, Hampshire and Wessex. Each chapter will host ten ambassadors.

A 10 day land tour will follow that includes 2 days in London and 6 days in Scotland.
The two days in London will be free time as so many have been there many times. The land tour will include visits to the Lake District, Gretna Green where eloping couples used to marry. We also go to Dumfries and visit Robert Burn's house. We travel along the bonnie banks of Lock Lomond for some stunning scenery, then   along to Glencoe and to Lock Linnhe and to Fort William in the shadow of Ben Nevis, Britain's tallest mountain. As we drive along the shores of Loch Ness, we'll visit Urqhart Castle. Look out for the monster! We'll continue to Bonnie Prince Charlie's Isle of Skye. We'll be in Edinburgh for two days. Sightseeing includes the Royal Mile and Princes Street, and in free time, possibly visit Rosslyn Chapel. We drive back to London through the Northumberland National Park, Newcastle and the Midlands, a beautiful scenic drive.

The cost of the trip (exchange and land tour) will be approximately $2,150 plus air. Air prices for those on the exchange and tour for the above listed dates should be about $820 from Dayton to London and return. I know some are planning their own air arrangements. The 10 day land tour includes 9 breakfasts (full Scottish breakfasts on tour), 4 dinners and tour tips.

There is an interest meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at the Kettering Government Center at 7:00.   Attendance is NOT mandatory. If you will not be attending I need to know because we will do some paperwork that evening. I will send a reminder later and you can let me know at that time.

        If you have friends interested in this trip let me know. We should have a few places still available as some of you are questionable. You do not have to be a FF member to go. What you do need to do now is check your passport. If your passport expires before April 2009, you must get it renewed now.
