Friendship Force Dayton
Friendship Force Dayton is a member club of Friendship Force International. Our purpose is to provide opportunities to explore new cultures, cultivate friendships, and ultimately promote peace and understanding by bringing people together on a personal level. Through the signature program of home hospitality, local hosts welcome domestic and international visitors into their home, sharing meals, conversation, and the best sights and experiences of their region. The club is non-political and has no religious affiliations.
We plan monthly events to bring our members together to foster friendships within our club and community. Included are a summer picnic, fall travelogue event, holiday party, World Friendship Day celebration, and a spring brunch. Often our gatherings include speakers and trips to local ethnic restaurants to learn more about different cultures.
We host ambassadors from other Friendship Force clubs, both international and domestic. Journeys are planned for 4-7 days, depending on the incoming club. Volunteer home hosts provide a place to stay and breakfast, and the club plans the activities. Many of our local members, who are not hosting, participate in the activities to give them the Friendship Force experience of sharing time with our guests. We believe that lifelong friendships are forged during these journeys.
We also travel as a group and are hosted by a club of Friendship Force International, typically for one international and at least one domestic journey each year. We serve as ambassadors, staying in someone’s home and experiencing the daily lives of our hosts. Their club plans cultural experiences and tours of their region. Often there is an optional tour before or after the home stay.
